  1. Appearances are often deceptive with the Taliban. Idealogy is frequently used to hide a naked struggle for power. The noise produced as a result in Western Capitals is well orchestrated and there are many winners in the process. There is a lot of pragmatism behind the apparent naivette. In the nineties a vehicle with a tape recoder would be greeted with scorn and evoke aggrressive negative reactiins. Today young talibs sit at checking posts punching their mobiles lost in facebook.
